In year 1994, I was asked to be moderator of a college mountaineering org in San Beda College, Mendiola, Manila. As its moderator, I was thus, compelled to join the group everytime they would climb a mountain on weekends as part of their primary activity.
This required me then, to acquire mountaineering gadgets and equipment like backpack, carabiner for rappeal purposes, and cookset.
My experience as mod gave me pleasant and challenging moods as I was dealing with 16 to 18 yr old college students who thought that their mod was only five years older than them when the truth was, I was already 38 years old. Somehow, I did not experience some kind of generation gap because my physical profile didn't show them that I was in my late thirties.
