The monastery bells ring several times a day (eight times a day). The solitary ringing of the bells call the monks for everyday Church services which they call as the Divine Office.
On Sundays, festive days and on specially solemn occasions, the bells ring to call the monks for a special celebration at the Abbey Church.

As bell ringer assigned for the week, I had to wake up 30 minutes earlier than the rest of the monks (Vigils start at 4:00AM ) and open the Church door, light the candles of the Church, and ring the wake up bell for 180 seconds (3 minutes) at 3:40AM then ring it again for 60 seconds at 3:50AM. Waking up earlier than the rest of the community brothers take a lot of discipline, sacrifice and hard-work.
